Cranio
VS
Integrative bodywork...
Which is right for me?

It can be hard sometimes to know what exactly the right appointment style is for what your body actually needs right now. Especially when pain stress and symptoms maybe aren't super clear or consistent.

Both craniosacral therapy and integrative bodywork are powerful, but they work in different ways and are better for different "things" that might be showing up.

Read the descriptions to the right, and if you are still having trouble deciding, feel free to shoot me an email with your story and what you are looking for and I am happy to point you in the right direction, even if its to another modality entirely. My goal is to help you feel better, whether it is on my table or on somebody else's.

Craniosacral Therapy (cranio)

Craniosacral works primarily with your central nervous system, spine, nerves and your fluid body (cerebrospinal fluid, lymphatic fluid, blood flow, etc).

This work is very subtle and gentle. Most people experience it as calming, grounding and surprisingly emotional or spacious. Often people fall asleep.

Who is cranio best for and what does it feel like?

Best for:

-Chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, migranes, longterm or "stuck" pain

-Nervous system dysregulation (anxiety, burnout, overwhelm)

-Sensory issues (vertigo, brain fog, hypersensitivity)

-Trauma stored in the body

-Concussions or other head injuries

-When your body feels "stuck" and you don't know why

Feels like:

-Light, gentle touch

-Whole body + specific issue focus

-Fully clothed during session

-Deeply restful "Like I had a whole night sleep but I was never really asleep"

-Discomfort from techniques rarely goes above a 2 out of 10 on the pain scale

Integrative Body Work (IB)

Integrative Bodywork blends all sorts of different techniques (massage, myofascial work, "deep tissue" therapeutic work, stretching, cranio, etc.) to address specific areas of tension, pain or dysfunction in your body.

This work is much more active and can sometimes feel intense, but it is always collaborative and stays within a manageable range. I think that a "no pain no gain" attitude is counterproductive and instead I focus on a "maximum gain from minimal pain" mindset.

Who is IB best for and what does it feel like?

Best for:

-Acute, localized pain (tight muscles, knots, injury recovery)

-Structural imbalances

-Recovery from strain or overuse

-Optimization of athletic performance

-When you can clearly point to a spot (or spots) and say "That's it, right there, make it go away!"

Feels like:

-The whole pressure scale: light to deep and everything in between

-Focused work on specific areas, we might not get to give attention to every single body part ( but we can still send some love)

- Some discomfort is normal due to techniques, usually a 6 out of 10 max.

-Often leaves you physically "worked out" or like something is released.

What if I am booking for a child/infant

If you are under 16 years old (or booking for someone under 16)  please only book craniosacral appointments. You will receive all of the benefits of an IB session, but you will always be fully clothed. Plus, it is so important for the younger generation to be receiving bodywork that I prefer to offer it at the cheaper rate.
